"Hello there! I'm Leah. I completed my undergraduate education at SUNY Binghamton University in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Ecological, Behavioral, and Evolutionary Biological Sciences. After a few years working at a Veterinary office as an assistant, I applied to a graduate program at The College of New Jersey to get my Masters in Teaching Secondary Education. I'm certified in the state of New Jersey to teach Biology and all Biology-related sciences at a high school level. This certification also allows me to teach science to grades K-8.

So far in my teaching career, I've covered a LOT of science topics! I've taught high school biology, environmental science, ecology, forensic science, middle school computers, enriched middle school science, chemistry, physics, physical science, earth in space, and life science. In the classroom, I believe strongly that a hands-on approach is the best way to learn! I love to utilize online and hands-on models, labs, group work, and collaborative learning. I integrate an Engineering Design Challenge into each of my units so that students can show off everything they've learned.

I've taught in a variety of different schools and situations. I've taught in typical high school and middle school classes, as well as inclusion classes. Class sizes typically ranged from 15-30 students. For a few years I taught in small groups (2-8 students) at both the high school and middle school level. I also worked for a year in South Korea. There I taught English as a Second Language to grades 3-9 in class sizes ranging from 2-35 students! I pride myself on being very flexible and reaching my students where they are." less...
