"I graduated from M.I.T. with 3 Bachelor’s degrees in physics, math, and chemistry (obtaining a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences many years later). My success as an undergraduate was largely due to a pro-active approach to my education taken in high school and even earlier. That is, I always endeavored to learn as much as possible about a subject before beginning a course. That history guides my approach to helping students. My focus with students is on fundamental conceptual understanding as a basis for independent progress with detailed course material. My approach can be implemented at any stage of engagement with targeted coursework, from prior preparation to addressing difficulties with a course in progress.

I have tutored and mentored a number of students over the years, both privately and through university-sponsored programs. I have also taught several classes on special topics in math for non-technical majors. I am available to tutor high school students in math or physics. I can tutor in any area of college-level physics, classical, quantum, or statistical, and a variety of subjects in mathematics, including calculus, differential equations and finite math. I have mentored students in scientific writing and will emphasize issues of presentation.
