"Ken is a long time screenwriter and writing coach after a previous career as publicist for major studios, and a newspaper columnist. He started tutoring at-risk schoolchildren on writing skills in Los Angeles in the 2000s while he was publicist for the Writers Guild Foundation. After returning to his home state of Michigan he has specialized in college application essays for high school seniors, while also helping underclass students in creative writing and general class assignments.

Ken makes sure the process is enjoyable for students, stripping away any barriers they may have while helping them hone their critical thinking, and tap their creativity and reflective abilities as they discover their own voice. He is extremely good with children, understanding their goals, challenges, and more importantly, who they may be as a person, being the foundation of everything they will write.

Ken is a past Sundance Institute Screenwriting Fellow, and a Top Ten Finalist in both the PAGE International and Writers Digest Screenwriting Awards. He currently has several film & television projects in Hollywood development. For several years Ken was humor columnist for Detroit’s Northwest Gazette and Michigan Chronicle newspapers, and his freelance writing has appeared in Daily Variety, USA Today, Creative Screenwriting Magazine, The Detroit News, The Oakland Press and MLive.com.

Having had lengthy conversations with major university admissions screeners, Ken understands what they look for in application essays, and, as a member of the Michigan Association of College Admission Counseling (MACAC) is proud of the fact every one of his seniors has been admitted to their preferred college." less...
