"I am a Stuyvesant High School alum with a strong academic background and a long-standing interest in teaching and mentoring students. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Macaulay Honors College, where I studied economics and completed a minor in English. I later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and am a licensed Registered Nurse in New York State. My academic training across economics, English, and nursing has strengthened my analytical thinking, writing skills, and ability to explain complex material clearly and effectively.
I have prior tutoring experience working one-on-one with middle and high school students in both math and English. I have supported students in grades 6 through 8 with skill-building, homework support, and test preparation, with a particular focus on helping students develop confidence and strong study habits. As a former SHSAT test-taker and Stuyvesant graduate, I am very familiar with the structure, content, and pacing of the SHSAT. In my SHSAT tutoring sessions, I work with students on targeted math and ELA concepts, timed practice questions, and test-taking strategies, with careful review of mistakes so students understand not only what went wrong, but how to improve.
In addition to test preparation, I work with high school students on college essay writing and editing. Drawing on my background in English, I help students clarify their ideas, strengthen organization, and refine language while preserving the student’s authentic voice. I do not write essays for students; instead, I guide them through brainstorming, revision, and editing so they gain skills they can apply independently. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and structured, and I aim to create a focused but low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging actively in the learning process." less...
