"Hello, I’m Jessica. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Chicago. My academic training taught me how to think clearly, break down complex ideas, and explain them in a way that makes sense to others. In my tutoring sessions, I focus not just on getting the right answer, but on helping students understand why a method works so they can apply it confidently on their own. My goal is to build strong foundations, improve problem-solving skills, and help students feel more comfortable approaching challenging material.
I have several years of teaching and tutoring experience working with students across a wide range of ages and ability levels. I began tutoring elementary students as a homework aide at Ellsworth Elementary School in Danbury, CT, providing one-on-one and small-group support. I later served as a Math Teaching Fellow at Culver Academies and as a Mathematics Teacher at the Peddie School, where I taught Geometry, Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus in classrooms of 20–40 students. In these roles, I designed lesson plans, collaborated on curriculum and assessments, and led problem-solving sessions to deepen student understanding.
As a tutor, I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe confidence is just as important as content knowledge, and I work closely with each student to identify gaps, develop effective strategies, and build persistence. If you’re looking for a patient and knowledgeable tutor who is committed to helping you build both skill and confidence in math, I encourage you to schedule a session so we can work toward your goals together." less...
