"Hello! My name is Mohammad, I am a fourth year Physics and Computer Science student at George Mason University. Helping my peers has always been a great joy for me, as I have been tutoring students in math since I was in high school, becoming proficient in addressing the struggles of students in classes such as Geometry, Algebra I & II, and Precalculus/Trigonometry.
Once I began college, I chose to become a learning assistant in the Physics & Astronomy department at my school, while also still tutoring high school students in mathematics. The classes I most often help students with in this role are University Physics I & II, which are classes in Newtonian Mechanics and Electromagnetism respectively (the college equivalents of AP Physics C).
My role as a learning assistant has been crucial in allowing me to hone my skills as an educator, as it allows me to leverage my knowledge as a Physics student to gain experience helping students using various teaching techniques. As an LA I am used to being present in class periods and helping students work out complex problems, as well as holding office hours (both in-person and online), where students can come in for one-on-one instruction and assistance.
I want every student that I work with to succeed and even begin to enjoy the subject that they might be struggling in. My main goal is always to build intuition and understanding of topics that may seem difficult or abstract for students." less...
