"My name is Giuliana and I am a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. My areas of tutoring include elementary to lower high-school level math. Specifically, grades 3-8, pre-algebra, and algebra 1 & 2. However, I have taken math up to AP Calculus and college-level Statistics, so I can assist with advanced math when needed. I also specialize in test preparation. In the past, I’ve tutored 7th and 8th-grade students to prepare for the Pennsylvania standardized test (PSSA) which is used for high school admissions. In the year I tutored for this exam, both of my students improved their test scores from the year before. Moreover, when studying for the SAT myself, I mastered the best methodology to improve my scores. Most notably, I improved my math SAT score from 590/800 to 790/800 in a few months.

I have tutored for about two years, with children between 6th and 8th grade. However, I believe that being in college has equipped me with tools that would greatly suit me for high school tutoring as well.

I understand that keeping good grades can be stressful for both the student and their families, and I assure you that I have been in the same position before. I like to approach my tutoring sessions one-on-one or in pairs (if the student has a friend in the same class, for example) so that I can keep the session personalized to the student’s interests and needs.
