"I have taught in the bilingual classroom, small groups, and one-on-one. Sometimes it takes one-on-one interactions for the content to "click". This happens much faster when the interactions are fun, engaging, interest based, and on a regular basis. Learning a second language is no different, whether it is English or Spanish. I provide engaging sessions to learn vocabulary and communication skills using games as well as direct instruction.

I have tutored elementary students with limited English proficiency as well as English speakers to develop their reading and writing skills. For Spanish speakers this has helped them greatly in transferring their knowledge of reading and writing in English. I love to see the spark in my students' eyes when they "get it"!

I have lived between Nicaragua and The United States throughout my life but have been with my family in the South Charlotte, NC area for the past 8 years. I enjoy very much to teach Spanish as part of the culture and not an isolated subject. Currently, I am homeschooling my daughters while I am enrolled in my Ph.D. program in Early Childhood Education. I am doing all my research on teaching and learning a second language and what keeps students motivated to become bilingual. My previous degrees are in Psychology and Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish.
