"Hi! I am Ciara! I am currently a special education teacher in a self-contained setting. I graduated in 2023 from Western Carolina University. I graduated with a degree in Inclusive Education. This means I am licensed to teacher K-6 general education as well as K-12 special education. Per my special education background, I typically teach by following the gradual release of responsibility model. This is the "I do, we do, you" strategy. This gradual release of responsibility allows learners to watch, practice with support, and eventually demonstrate mastery independently. Of course, education is not one size fits all, so as I meet learners, I will adjust my teaching approach to best fit your student's needs.

In my current classroom, I have experience working in a whole group, small group, and one-on-one. I also have experience in differentiating instruction for learners of all ages. In my intensive intervention class, I have the opportunity to work with students who exhibit "behavior problems," I also get to work with students who are on the Spectrum.

I truly love helping students learn and value the experiences and voices that students bring to their education. I am excited to become a licensed teacher within the next few months and even more excited to continue my work with students. I believe that all learners have a right to an equitable education, and I hope I can play a role in that now and for years to come.
