"I'm a physics and engineering teacher at one of New York City's prestigious specialized high schools. I've always been a strong student, and I've been tutoring my friends and classmates since I was young. My best subjects have always been math and science, and as a result I majored in Civil Engineering as an undergrad. While I managed well enough in college to be able to help my friends and classmates in physics, I decided that engineering wasn't for me during my senior year, it was too impersonal and I didn't want to spend my life running calculations and checking standards. I decided to follow in my mother's footsteps; she was also an NYC public school teacher. It was a significant pay cut, but there's more to life than money.

I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I learn best when I'm interested in what I'm studying. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning more about math and science with my students, and my passion even encompasses learning itself. I love getting to know new students, figuring out how they think and learn, and coming up with new ways to explain topics that many people find confusing and complicated. Understanding how I think and learn has really helped me a lot throughout all my schooling, and understanding new innovative ways to convey ideas to other people helps me improve as a teacher every day.

Science, math and engineering go hand in hand, and I took dozens of credits in advanced math courses during college. We use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry every day in my engineering and physics classes, and I have developed my own ways of quickly reviewing math concepts that my students may have forgotten so we can apply them immediately in physics. Lately, I've also been working with teachers in the math department of my school to more closely align our course curricula and make sure that our students can utilize what they've learned in their math classes in their science classes and vice versa.
