"In high school, I got a 1540 on my SATs and was a top student at Brooklyn Technical High School, a prestigious high school in NYC. I went to University at Buffalo and got a bachelors degree in biology. I am now pursuing a DDS, enrolling at NYU for fall of 2023. I have tutored remotely for three years while I was in college. I tutored mostly middle school and high school math (algebra 1 and 2 and trig). Instead of regurgitating to students what they probably already heard from their teachers, I try to let them figure out the mechanics behind certain math concepts, such as what makes a line graph and how changing certain constants and variables affects that graph. I find that when students understand what they see, then practice questions and homework becomes much more effective. It’s like training free throws at the park. If you practice with incorrect form, you develop bad habits and do not improve as fast. Math is the same way.

As for SAT, I feel like a lot of people misunderstand the SAT and see it as a test of knowledge, when really, the SAT is about understanding what to look for and finding answers in the easiest way possible. I always emphasised to my students that SAT questions are tricky, but not difficult, and if they feel difficult, that means that you missed a crucial piece of information.
