"Hello!

My name is Natalie. I graduated from Santa Monica High school in 2019 and cum laude from St. Olaf College in 2023. I am now working as an EMT on 911 response in Minneapolis and am applying to medical school.

I received a 34 on the ACT and excelled in a variety of subjects throughout high school and college. At St. Olaf, I tutored other students in Chemistry, Calculus, and beginner Spanish. I love all areas of learning, but I’m especially passionate about Anatomy and Physiology, AP Biology, Spanish, ACT test prep, Chemistry, Music Theory, and English.

If you’re interested in music lessons, my primary instruments are trombone and piano. I have experience with composition and improvisation as well.

I have also worked with elementary-aged students, ranging from trombone lessons and math tutoring to martial arts classes. My approach to tutoring is an empathetic one, and I make sure to tailor my teaching style to each student in order to best fit their needs. I’ve found success in working through assignments together and addressing any knowledge gaps as they come up, as well as ensuring that we have touched on all of the key topics. In my own studies, these techniques (along with plenty of practice tests and notecards) have proven to be successful.

Finally, it is of the utmost importance to me that my students practice efficient and valuable study habits in order to limit frustration and burnout. Effective study habits make all the difference, especially for students who are balancing multiple classes and activities! As a tutor, I strive to limit the amount of memorization I ask of my students and instead aim for a deeper understanding via a problem-solving, explanation based approach. More specifically, I will often ask students to walk me through their thought process and teach the concepts to me in their own words.
