"Hi, I’m Asuma. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology and a minor in mathematics. I’m also a U.S. Army veteran with over 8 years of tutoring experience in biology, chemistry, math, and ASVAB prep. Helping others learn has always been something I care deeply about, and it’s truly an honor every time I get to support someone in understanding something that once felt out of reach. My tutoring journey started back in college. I was recommended to work at my school’s learning center after professors and peers noticed how naturally I explained things. From there, I officially began tutoring biology, chemistry, and math, including Organic Chemistry I. I also worked as a Supplemental Instructor for the CUNY ASAP program and supported students in other academic success programs focused on building strong foundations.

After joining the Army, I continued teaching during deployment by volunteering as an instructor for the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT) and ASVAB. My students had a 95 percent success rate. Whether in classrooms or military settings, I’ve always made it a point to meet people where they are and help them move forward with confidence. One thing my students often say is, “You make it make sense.” I take pride in breaking things down simply, listening to what each learner needs, and adapting my style to support their growth.
