"Hello! I am a graduate student of biomedical engineering and I work in the biotech industry doing organ-on-a-chip research. I have a very interdisciplinary education in the topics of mechanical engineering and biomedical science.

I have 10 years of experience tutoring STEM subjects, and I specialize in calculus and physics. I work with many students who may have excelled at math previously but need help adjusting to how the material is taught at the collegiate level. The structure and pacing of how STEM is taught in college requires students to "learn how to learn". I am passionate about helping students understand these concepts that may seem challenging at first, and teaching them how to become better learners

Most of my tutoring experience is 1-on-1 with AP and college students, but I have worked with students as young as middle school age up through retirees going back to college. I have received formal training in pedagogical methods from a tutoring company and I also spent 6 years working in a management / trainer role where I received extensive training and experience on teaching methods and working with different learning styles. I was my high school's valedictorian, and I was a member of the honors college as an undergrad student at the University of Central Florida. I have a 4.0 GPA for my M.S. program in biomedical engineering.

Something I've learned in my experience tutoring is that many students develop a false limiting belief that they "aren't good at" math or science because somewhere along the way, they may not have grasped an important 'stepping stone' topic before moving on, had a teacher that didn't match their learning style, or developed testing anxiety. My favorite thing about tutoring is seeing students who thought they'd "never get it" grow a new confidence in themselves and earning A's in these classes.

I use analogies, coach by asking questions, build confidence, use humor, work with the student on time management, and make sure to identify and target weak points." less...
