"Hi, I'm Julian. I am a 3rd year college student looking to get my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer Architecture. I found out in my AP Physics C Class in high school that I loved problem solving and working with electricity, which is what drew me to Electrical Engineering. I have always been someone my peers look up to when needing help with material in my math classes and recently my more specialized engineering classes. I believe part of that has to do with how well I do in school. I finished high school with a 4.5 GPA on a 5.0 scale and currently have a 3.4 GPA in college. I took many APs in high school, Calculus AB, Physics, Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism, Statistics, all scoring a 3 or higher. Something in my nature requires me to want to help and I want to help those in my community understand math and science better.
I have a little bit under a year's experience working professionally for a tutoring company where I worked with children between elementary school and high school. I personally found that my methods resonated more with older children who have taken Algebra or are starting Algebra. My time there was mostly in small groups, a lot of one-on-one or groups of two or three, and I hope to continue working that way. I have only anecdotal experience tutoring college students, all of them being my friends, but I look forward to taking this new step.
I am a big fan of working with the textbooks the students use in school, it provides the methods the teachers use so they can follow along in class and has a lot of practice problems that will be similar to the student's homework and tests. My approach to each unit will be breaking down the unit into simple ideas for the student to build on and draw connections with. I am welcome to any resource the student/parent provides. Please contact me with any questions." less...
