"I am a public health professional and educator with over 15 years of experience teaching, conducting research, and leading programs across academic, nonprofit, and global health sectors. I hold dual master’s degrees in Environmental Health and Public Administration from the University of Washington (UW), with additional training in international development and policy. My background in infectious disease and global health allows me to translate complex STEM concepts into clear, engaging lessons.
I have taught high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. At UW, I co-led graduate journal clubs on public health risk assessment, delivered guest lectures in Risk Assessment, and served as a teaching assistant for courses including Environmental Microbiology, Sampling and Analysis, and Environmental Health in Media. I also facilitated workshops on One Health, risk-framed approaches, and equitable public health decision-making in hybrid and online formats. Earlier, I designed and led K–12 and university environmental science programs at the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center and Tahoe Rim Trail Association, including youth-focused curricula and community outreach. Across all experiences, I prioritize active learning, inclusive pedagogy, and practical application to help students gain understanding and confidence in STEM subjects.
Beyond teaching, I have applied scientific and analytical skills in real-world contexts. As a Research Scientist at UW, I partnered with international teams to design strategies preventing zoonotic disease spillover. At Meta’s Data for Good team, I analyzed complex datasets to inform crisis response and policy guidance for organizations including UNICEF and the IOM. These experiences allow me to incorporate real-world examples and data-driven approaches into tutoring, helping students connect theory to practice in biology, math, and public health." less...
