"I currently tutor students in Elementary math, from 1st to 6th grade, Prealgebra (Pre-Algebra) 7th-8th, and Algebra 1. When tutoring a child that is currently in grades kindergarten through 6th grade, I test the child's skills in the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). If there is a weakness in calculating any of those operations, I have the expertise to help the child improve his or her math grade. With a young child, a tutor has to show patience, because a child can: 1) get easily distracted by his or her surroundings, and 2) young children tend not to learn a process as quickly. My credentials prove that I am more than capable of tutoring a young child in Elementary Math.

During my grade school years, I excelled in mathematics. In 8th grade, I was introduced to Algebra I, and finished my grade school days taking Trigonometry, in which I achieved grades of a A+. During my four years at the University of the Virgin Islands, I took College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus, which was a little more challenging, but it sharpened my math skills to a greater extent. I may not be a teacher by trade; however, with my ability to effectively train employees and years of tutoring elementary math, I can assure you I'm an effective tutor, listener, and passionate about students' success.

My approach to tutoring is simple. First, I interviewed the parents and student. From there, I develop a game plan to get the student back on track with his or her good grades, and then I will use the sessions to help the student take a more positive approach to the math subject. During my tutoring sessions, I like to start off with the basic rules of the subject, assuring that the student can master them.
