"I am currently a Sophomore at Swarthmore College. I am majoring in Math and Computer Science and have completed Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistical Method, finishing with all A’s. I scored a 35 on the ACT, a 1490/1520 on the PSAT, and was awarded National Merit Finalist. As a student-athlete on the Swarthmore lacrosse team, I understand the importance of balancing academics and extracurriculars. I can help students balance these commitments while also being understanding of their needs.

In high school I was assigned by teachers to help students falling behind by giving private tutoring lessons in my free time. I would help with courses from Algebra 2 all the way to Calculus. I also ran a club called Applied Statistics that analyzed probability and statistical principles in real world scenarios. From this experience, I learned how to break down complex subjects into simpler, manageable pieces and adjust my explanations to match each student's level of understanding.

When I tutor I try to keep my explanations as simple and straightforward as possible. I also prioritize the process rather than an outcome. It is more important to me that a student can understand why a concept works rather than just apply equations. I believe this is key in the building of math principles that helps students progress through courses. I also understand that each student is at a different level of understanding and that certain tactics don’t work for everyone, so in this I am very flexible and will adjust my methods to match each of my students." less...
