"Hello! My name is Hamzeh, and I'm excited to share my inventive approach to tutoring. I graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology and Songwriting from USC and an A.A. in Biology from MDC Honors.
With over 5 years of tutoring and mentoring experience, I have worked with students from elementary to college level in subjects like math, writing, and social and physical sciences. I excelled in adapting my teaching methods for students with ADHD, neurodivergence, and learning disabilities, creating a supportive and effective learning environment. My background included neuroscience research at UM and BCI, focusing on autism and mental health EEG studies. These roles involved cognitive and behavioral assessments with youth (ages 7-25), which deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by diverse learners. As a teacher’s assistant at Mater Brigade, I prepared daily resources for middle school students and achieved 80-93% passing rates for end of year assessments. At the MDC Resource and Learning Center, I personalized weekly lesson plans tailored to each individual's needs while tracking progress and feedback. As a multilingual tutor, I also offered lessons in Arabic and English as a second language, and communicated in Spanish as needed. This linguistic versatility has helped me address various learning requirements.
In essence, these experiences allow me to incorporate scientific and creative methods to for long-term memory consolidation, leveraging technology to use mnemonic and visualization techniques. I am also able to discuss graduate school tracks, essay feedback, SAT prep, and application tips. What sets me apart is my holistic and inclusive tutoring strategies. I strive to ensure everyone has a strong grasp of their coursework while equipping them with confidence and lifelong learning skills. I am most drawn to Wyzant's mission of connecting learners with the right resources and tutors, and I am thrilled about making my contributions and supporting you in your educational journey!" less...
