"I come from a bilingual household. My mother spoke Spanish in the house most of the time though she is bilingual. I learned my Spanish from her and my English from my American father. I was raised in Union City, New Jersey where I learned various dialects of Spanish. I acquainted myself with Cuban, Columbian, Mexican, Argentinian as well as many other South American dialects of Spanish. I am 100% fluent in English and Spanish. I also know a bit of French and Russian as well.
I attended Montclair State University in New Jersey where I majored in Spanish and studied the teaching of Spanish. I took a lot of Spanish grammar, literature and teaching courses in college. My GPA was 3.4. Upon completion of College, I entered the business and real estate world in Union City where I spoke to hundreds of Spanish speaking only clients. The demographics of Union City, New Jersey is 95% Spanish. In my business I spoke and translated many documents from Spanish to English and visa versa for Spanish and English-speaking clients and business associates every day. I lived the Spanish language. I have a very strong command of both languages. I always desired to teach Spanish and ESL but due to a medical condition I was unable to complete all necessary certifications.
I have taught privately Spanish as well as English to English and Spanish speaking older teenagers and adults for the past 6 years. I use an incremental approach to teaching. First, I interview the students in their predominant languages to see how much they know. Then by using various books and materials I teach slowly one step at a time words and sentences until they gain a command of what they learned. When I am satisfied that they have commanded what they have learned we will go further until the student begins to slowly feel the fluency coming. I enjoy teaching students who want to learn either Spanish or ESL and share my knowledge with those who want to learn either the Spanish language or English as a second language." less...
