"My diverse academic foundation spans Classical languages, philosophy, rhetoric, and the Liberal Arts tradition. Most recently, I completed a Ph.D. in Classics, Philosophy, and Ancient Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where I specialized in Ancient Philosophy with particular foci on Plato and Aristotle. I also hold multiple Master's degrees: an M.A. in Classical Studies, an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College, and an M.A. in Rhetoric from Carnegie Mellon University. Additionally, I earned a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Classical Languages from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from The Evergreen State College.
I have over fifteen years of teaching and tutoring experience across multiple educational contexts. Most recently, I served as faculty at a High School, where I taught in both the Distinguished Scholars Program (leading research, writing, and Great Books seminars for juniors and sophomores) and the World Languages department, teaching all levels of Latin from I through IV Honors. Previously, I taught in Pittsburgh, where I instructed Latin from grade 6 through a senior-year post-AP Advanced Classical Seminar, and developed electives including Logic, Creative Writing, and Etymology. My teaching approaches emphasize dialogue through Great Books seminars, guided discovery in language learning, and intensive writing instruction across disciplines.
My teaching experience encompasses students from middle school through undergraduate levels in both classroom and individual settings. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, I have provided freelance tutoring since 2012 in subjects including research and writing, geometry, natural sciences, and Latin, and have previously worked as a Writing Tutor at The Evergreen State College Writing Center, providing one-on-one support to both undergraduate students on academic writing, technical compositions, and grant proposals." less...
