"Hello! I’m Valerie, and I’m passionate about helping students not only understand statistics and research methods but also feel confident applying them in real-world contexts. I graduated from UCLA in 2020 with a BA in Psychology (3.9 GPA), a minor in Cognitive Science, and a Specialization in Computing, where I took many courses in statistics and programming languages such as R, MATLAB, and C++. Prior to that I was salutatorian at my high school with a 4.7 GPA. I recently completed my MA in Quantitative Psychology (statistics applied to psychology) at UNC Chapel Hill in 2025, where I am now continuing as a PhD student. Over the years, I’ve taught and TA’d a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, including introductory statistics, programming in R, and advanced statistical methods at institutions such as UCLA, UNC, the University of Michigan, Norfolk State University, and the Odum Institute. I also bring experience working with diverse learners from my time as an academic adviser to underserved high school students in Pasadena, CA. I enjoy working with high school, college, and adult learners alike.
