"I’m Patricia! I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I am maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout nursing school, completing coursework in pharmacology, pathophysiology, health assessment, and nursing fundamentals. I have received A grades in prerequisites such as anatomy and physiology, biology, and chemistry. On the TEAS, I received a 99th percentile overall score and a score of 100% on the math section.
As a certified BLS and CPR instructor, I’m experienced in teaching students healthcare-related topics and linking theoretical concepts to their real-world applications. I have experience in one-on-one instruction, helping students develop the effective prioritization and critical thinking skills required to succeed.
In my experience as an instructor and a student, I learned that adapting to various learning styles is key to success. I believe in providing varied modalities of learning such as notes, diagrams, recorded lectures, and knowledge checklists. All students benefit from certain key strategies. For the TEAS, practice questions are critical. Applying knowledge to real scenarios and explaining why each answer is either correct or incorrect is essential for knowledge retention. I enjoy helping students work through problems and develop a deeper understanding as to why the answer is the answer, rather than memorizing information. Seeing how topics are tested and how they interrelate to one another creates a much stronger foundation for test-taking. I also emphasize pattern recognition skills, which help students identify common question types and their expected solutions, predict the formulas needed, or determine the definition of a word from its prefix or suffix.
I know life as a student can be unpredictable at times, and am therefore flexible. I’m often available for last-minute appointments. I also enjoy working with long-term students, whether to prepare for a standardized exam or to provide consistent support for the duration of a course." less...
