"My name is Syeda and I am a TEFL-certified tutor with over eight years of teaching experience. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelors degree in Global Studies with a concentration in the Middle East and South Asia and a minor in Environmental Sustainability.

Currently, I am a full-time English tutor, primarily teaching entrepreneurs and corporate professionals online. I have also taught English abroad in-person in Costa Rica, Morocco, Turkey, and Italy. I have a TEFL certification (Teach English as a Foreign Language) and I prepare students for IELTS and Accuplacer exams. I have experience teaching English to children and adults across many levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2). I focus on pronunciation and fluency by reviewing grammar and vocabulary using various topics and themes. I often provide conversational English classes to students who have some basic knowledge of English and want to improve their speaking and listening skills in a relaxed way. Additionally, I offer business preparation for job interviews and presentations and study help for exams and papers.

In my lessons you will find that I use multimedia resources like podcasts, videos, articles, journals, and books, to familiarize students with real-life examples. I also like to incorporate games into my lessons to encourage students to practice speaking and writing in a fun environment. When my students prefer it, I take a traditional approach by using textbook material to teach grammar concepts and assign homework.
