"Throughout the years I have developed a dynamic personal teaching style that balances encouragement and toughness. I observe and interact with my students to diagnose and correct areas of confusion, provide clear explanations and examples, and engage and challenge students to reach their highest potential through practice. When preparing students for standardized tests, I ensure that students learn, practice, and apply test-taking strategies to achieve results on test day. Finally, I take care to work with parents and teachers in a professional and productive manner. In the past, parents have told me that their child learned more in our sessions than in school and that their child's confidence and work ethic improved over time in response to my teaching style. University student reviews praised my ability to inspire interest in the topic, my emphasis on understanding and critical thinking, and my personal demeanor.
Thank you for taking the time to read my tutor profile. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you or your son/daughter. Please contact me with any questions or concerns." less...

Education and Qualifications
|school:||University of Miami|
I have nearly 15 years of experience with tutoring, teaching, and training. As a result, I am comfortable interacting with many audiences (including students from primary to university levels, parents, teachers and professors, and candidates for public office) on many subjects (such as math, critical reading, essay composition, data analysis, public policy, and political economy).
I worked for several years as a standardized test and academic subject instructor in private, small group, and classroom formats, first as an employee of a large tutoring company in California and later as an independent tutor in Florida. At the University of Miami, I taught undergraduate classes as a Teaching Assistant (in an existing introductory course) and as a Lecturer (in a new course I designed and taught independently). Other professional teaching experiences include curriculum development workshops for Miami-Dade public school teachers and policy training workshops in a governmental setting.
My passion for education is evident not only in my teaching endeavors, but also in my own academic career. I pursued higher education at strong institutions and committed myself fully to learning. I earned a B.A. from the University of California and received a full tuition scholarship and Research/Teaching Assistantship to complete my M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Miami. I finished course requirements with high marks (GPA: 3.98) and just completed my doctoral dissertation.
