"Hi! I’m Zach, and I’m a trombonist, composer, and arranger living in Rochester, New York. I recently completed my Master’s degree in jazz trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. I’m originally from North Carolina, where I completed my undergraduate degree in trombone performance from Appalachian State University, located in Boone, NC. I mainly play the tenor trombone, but I also play bass trombone as well!

I have been in a wide range of musical situations which span from wind ensemble and orchestras, to chamber groups such as a brass quintet, to small and large jazz ensembles, and even to pop, funk, and fusion groups. No matter what musical situation I’m in, I think that it is important that we provide a quality and personable musical experience to the audience. In addition to playing trombone, I spend time composing and arranging. I also enjoy teaching music theory and aural skills, especially jazz theory and ear training!

In the summer of 2022, I was selected to participate in the Jazz at Aspen Snowmass Academy, a two-week intensive workshop under the artistic direction of eight-time Grammy award winning jazz bassist Christian McBride. I have performed professionally with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
