"I taught AP & IB Physics for six years in the late 90's, with exceptional success for my students on all AP and IB exams. I've also taught regular physics (as opposed to college prep). And I taught Algebra 1 through Calculus in rural Louisiana through the Teach For America program before I got licensed to teach physics. These and other teaching jobs involved quite a bit of one-on-one work with students.

Even though I was known for guiding my students to good results on the AP and IB physics tests, that wasn't what mattered most to me. I wanted to share my excitement and love for math and physics. The most important results for me were seeing students get excited about physics, and start doing their own exploring. Test scores come and go, but attitude and enthusiasm are forever.

My approach to tutoring is to ask questions and listen first, before I say much. I want to find out where you're at, what you understand and don't understand, and how you feel about what you're studying. Sometimes students are completely lost and we need to go all the way back to the beginning, but just as often, they only need some gaps filled in, and some concepts strengthened. And they need confidence.
