"I'm Alexander; I graduated cum laude from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, then graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a Master's in Computer Science, then earned both a California multiple-subject teaching credential with a computer science supplemental authorization, and a California single-subject teaching credential in mathematics. I have a lot of passion for math and CS and love to share it with my students!

I have two years of experience teaching in various grade schools, and was a graduate TA in computer science for 18 months before that. However, I've found that my greatest joy and greatest strength are in one-on-one and small-group tutoring, and I decided to quit the classroom to focus on that! I have 10 years of experience tutoring math at various levels, from middle school algebra and high school calculus to undergraduate-level statistics and graduate-level discrete math. I have also tutored in various areas of CS, from fundamentals of programming and computer science thinking patterns to specific programming languages and advanced type theory.

My tutoring approach is closely tailored to each individual student, and always begins by collaborating with them to find out what their needs are, both for the topics they're wanting to improve in and for the way they best learn. After that, in each lesson, I lead the student through an exploration of the lesson's topic, clarifying their understanding by playing with many examples and exploring how they're all connected. Then, I give students more examples as exercises, challenging them to apply their understanding independently while remaining available for any specific assistance they may need. At the end of the lesson, I encourage students to find and explore examples of the topic as it comes up in their personal interests and daily lives.

Please contact me for any additional questions, or to schedule a lesson; I am always happy to respond, and welcome suggesti" less...
