"Hello, I'm Kateri! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Salve Regina University. I have a strong academic foundation in the sciences and a deep passion for helping others succeed in their studies. My experience as a subject tutor through Salve’s Academic Center for Excellence has given me the opportunity to work both one-on-one and in group settings, supporting students in a wide range of courses including General and Organic Chemistry, Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology, as well as Italian.

My background in scientific research and laboratory work has strengthened my problem-solving and analytical skills, which I integrate into my tutoring approach. I try to focus on breaking down complex concepts, then reconnecting them to see the big picture concepts. My hope is to build strong study habits and tailor each session to the student’s learning style to eventually allow the student to become more independent. Beyond academics, my leadership roles and involvement in research mentorship have taught me patience and the value of clear communication—all of which I bring into my tutoring sessions.

Most of my tutoring sessions were with first year students at Salve Regina, coming from various scientific backgrounds. The transition to college-level science courses can be challenging and unique for every individual, and I aim to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where students of all ages feel comfortable asking questions and building their confidence.
