"Hey there, I'm Siah!
I graduated summa cum laude in Computer Science and Global Studies from Hope College, where I discovered my passion for teaching as a Computer Science Teaching Assistant and Tutor. I love helping students master challenging concepts through clear explanations and patient guidance, whether we're debugging code or solving math problems. My strength lies in breaking down complex topics into manageable steps while making learning engaging and relevant - I believe every student can succeed when concepts are presented in ways that match their unique learning style.
My tutoring approach is all about patience, adaptability, and real-world connections. I specialize in:
Elementary & Middle School Math (arithmetic, fractions, pre-algebra, and more)
Computer Science (programming fundamentals, debugging, and logic)
STEM Support (homework help, test prep, and confidence-building)
Beyond traditional tutoring, I served as Facilities Director at Camp Ross (BSA), where I mentored Cub Scouts through hands-on service projects. Guiding them in building benches, repairing fences, and completing camp improvements, I focused on developing problem-solving skills, teamwork, and perseverance. This experience reinforced my belief in experiential learning - that the best education happens when students actively engage with meaningful challenges. Working with scouts taught me how to break down complex tasks into achievable steps and create an environment where mistakes become valuable learning opportunities, principles I now apply to all my teaching.
Let’s make learning rewarding! I welcome parent input and resources to align with classroom goals. Reach out to schedule a session—I’m here to help!" less...
