"Hi, I'm Shane! I earned my Bachelor of Science from Furman University in 2023, graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0. At Furman, I double-majored in Biology (on the cell & molecular bio track) and Religion because I just couldn't decide between STEM and the humanities. This offered me two different approaches to problem-solving...the practical, fact-based scientific approach, as well as the more philosophical, "no right answers" approach that you often see in the liberal arts. I can appreciate a classic exam with multiple-choice and short answer STEM questions just as much as I appreciate 5-10 page essays with more room to explain your thoughts. My past tutoring experience was mainly focused on math (high-school level Algebra I, Algebra II, and geometry), both working with students individually and in small groups of 2-3. During my several years as the editor for my school newspaper, I also worked one-on-one with junior members of the staff to improve their writing for brevity and clarity.
