"Hi I’m Mark! I graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. After 3 gap years working at various research labs at Johns Hopkins, I went to medical school at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine where I graduated top of my class. During medical school I took an extra year to work as research fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to producing orthopaedic surgery research, I taught medical students and other research fellows how to conduct studies, write scientific literature, and get their work published.

I have had 13 peer-reviewed papers accepted for publication thus far with another 20+ submitted for publication at various orthopedic surgery journals. I am confident that I have the knowledge and background to assist with any scientific writing or proofreading assistance that you may need. Other fun roles related to teaching that I have had throughout my life include orthopedic surgery scribe instructor, academic journal peer reviewer, wrestling coach, fitness instructor, and snowboarding instructor! I pride myself on being able to explain tough subjects in creative, easy to learn ways and I think that these non-academic teaching roles have helped me refine that ability.

I feel that lesson plans best serve the student when you are able to actively participate in learning. I always give students ample opportunities to ask questions and encourage an active dialogue between us during the lesson. My goal is for you to truly understand the material, not just memorize what is in front of you, and to have fun while doing it!
