"Hello! My name is Rykan, a passionate tutor driven by an avid love for learning, sharing knowledge, and sparking curiosity in others. My strengths are in English, History, and Writing, all of which are grounded in a strong academic background and extended through hands-on experience in peer tutoring and classroom teaching.
I have taken a difficult curriculum consisting of AP English, AP World History, AP US History, AP Seminar, and AP Human Geography, with high scores on all and earning AP Honors with Distinction. These courses have honed my analytical and writing capabilities as well as strengthened my skill at presenting difficult concepts in concise and engaging ways.
Currently, I am earning a degree in Psychology at Cumberland University, studying the complicated dynamics of how people learn, reason, and evolve—knowledge that I eagerly bring to my tutoring experiences. I feel blessed to have taught students in various learning environments, from one-on-one personalized tutoring to running class discussions for AP Seminar, enjoying the challenge of shaping my teaching to meet the distinct needs of every student.
What sets me apart is my adaptability and patience. I think that great tutoring goes beyond conveying knowledge; it's about connecting with students, understanding their unique learning needs, and creating an environment in which they feel nurtured and can build confidence. Whether I'm helping a high schooler write a compelling essay, taking a middle schooler through a tricky history lesson, or introducing basic grammar to an elementary student, I work to meet them where they are and build from there.
Learning should be an adventure, not just an assignment. My goal is to make every lesson something students look forward to, a time when knowledge is acquired, curiosity is stimulated, and confidence is developed.
Let’s do it together and unleash your full potential." less...
