"My background has equipped me to work with a wide variety of students. I have a strong background in science and research, acquired during my post-graduate teaching and research fellowship in physiological psychology. I subsequently taught English for six years to undergraduates at the Scuola di Economia e Commercio, Università degli Studi di Pisa (Italy). While there I assisted professors and graduate students in the Biology Department, translating and editing their research papers for publication in English-language journals. I taught English at the local elementary school and tutored high school students in English as well.

After returning to Nevada, I taught adult ESL classes through the community college in Elko. I enrolled in the M. Ed. program at the University of Nevada in Reno and obtained teacher certification (Special Education, K-12). I have several years of classroom experience, teaching English language arts, math, science and social studies, along with social and organizational skills. I assessed and taught students with learning and emotional disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays and physical disabilities.

The most rewarding part of teaching is understanding and meeting the needs of the individual student. Every learner has unique strengths to build on and challenges to overcome, and the right tutor can make a tremendous difference.
