"I am passionate about the opportunity to teach and mentor young people, offering them what I have found to be helpful. My did my BA in Government at Dartmouth College, an MBA in marketing at Azusa Pacific, and am currently working on an MA in Christian Spiritual Formation and Leadership at Friends University. My extensive and recent academic experience has given me a lot of practical value to offer students in the areas of reading, writing, government, business, and Christian studies. My time as a college athlete and basketball trainer may also be helpful for young athletes desiring to grow in that area of life.
Although I do not not have previous formal tutoring experience, I have an abundance of informal experience. I am the older brother to 3 siblings who are currently in high school, and have been coaching middle school/high school students for nearly 10 years. These relationships have given me frequent mentoring and teaching opportunities, where I have helped several students with their writing, given presentations on relational skills, fostered exercises that invited self-examination, and leading bible studies and Christian spiritual development conversations.
A skillset that separates me is my ability to ask great questions. I genuinely seek to get to know the students I have worked with and help them to critically engage with how the things they are learning apply to them and effect how they see the world. My own experience as a student has showed me how much more impactful my education has been in environments where I was asked great questions and became motivated by the value that my efforts could add to my real life. This is what I seek to invited students into, regardless of the subject." less...
