"Hi! I’m Marvette. I’ve always loved tutoring, and my passion for math has fueled my ambition to pursue a PhD in Mathematics Education after earning a Master of Science degree in Mathematics on May 2, 2025.

My first tutoring assignment was in high school as an Algebra tutor, and I still find joy in working with students of all ages. After graduating summa cum laude with a BS in Accounting and spending 15 years in related fields, I returned to the classroom, spending the past eight years in the public school system providing interpreting and tutoring services.

During my five years at the high school level, I tutored students one-on-one during study periods and after school. For standardized test prep events, I often worked with small groups of up to five students, helping them achieve specific testing goals. Through collaboration with dedicated educators and instructional coaches, I developed a tutoring approach that consistently delivers results.

My lessons are structured around clear learning objectives. Each session is purposefully designed to introduce, develop, and reinforce targeted concepts. I foster a safe space where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities. I model successful strategies and guide students in discovering their own path to the correct answers. Together, we replace unproductive habits with effective, reliable methods. Sessions conclude with clear next steps to ensure retention and continued progress.

I have extensive tutoring experience in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Financial Accounting, and Managerial Accounting. What I enjoy most is discovering each student’s unique learning needs and meeting them in creative and memorable ways.
