"Hi, I'm Sara! I recently graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in English and with a "Distinction in General Scholarship" in late 2024. Upon being nominated by the English department faculty, I was awarded with the Phelan Prize Scholarship "awarding excellence in the field of study and exceptional literary creativity," graduating with a 3.9 GPA.
As far as tutoring is concerned, I was an English professor's Course Assistant during my last semester of college where we collaborated on facilitating a senior seminar. I prepared all online course material via Canvas for our student body of 20+ seniors, wrote out study guide materials, and answered emails concerning their inquiries regarding the coursework. Perhaps my best efforts towards building a successful environment for our students included consistently engaging their interest levels and their own contributions whenever possible. Passion is the forefront of any successful academia!
My own academia included completed courses in Shakespeare, contemporary literature, early British poetry & literature (1700's - 1900's), Early American historical literature, creative writing, short fiction writing, philosophical writing foundations, Modern European Intellectual History, history of the American West, Modern Philosophy, and more!
Following a Socratic methodology of tutoring, it is my aim to help you build confidence in your work and articulate writing while developing your own original thoughts that transfer well onto paper. Crafting a highly-developed, authentic essay that you're proud of can be done - if provided with the right set of tools and an extra set of eyes." less...
