"Hi, I'm Ryan! I recently graduated from UC Berkeley with an MS in Nuclear Engineering. Prior to graduate school, I double majored in Math and Chemistry at Lewis & Clark College and was admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. I have always had a deep interest and appreciation for the equations and scientific principles that govern the world we live in.
My tutoring journey began in college when I realized that I could help my peers find joy and succeed in the same classes that I had fallen in love with. Most of my experience has been in tutoring college-level math and chemistry, but I am also very comfortable tutoring earlier levels. In my three years of tutoring, I have led both 1-on-1 sessions and small groups (less than five). In addition to tutoring, I have also spent three years as a teaching assistant for various college-level chemistry and engineering courses. My years of laboratory research experience allow me to bring a deep understanding of real-world applications to lessons that can provide a fun introduction to new topics in a way that bridges the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge.
I am highly motivated by helping students feel empowered in their mastery of STEM concepts and helping them achieve their goals for the semester. I welcome any suggestions from students or parents so that I can make your learning process easier. My top priority as a tutor is to provide a safe space for reinforcing foundational concepts so that students feel confident in their own abilities." less...
