"I am an incoming sophomore at the University of California, Berkeley, studying Economics, and I am an effective student committed to learning, developing skills, and making team contributions. I am self-directed and energetic, with superior performance in both autonomous and collaborative environments, working independently and collaborating with others on group projects. I am a skilled multitasker with an exceptional work ethic and good teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills. I am willing to take on any task to help the team. I am a reliable and dedicated team player with a hardworking and resourceful approach. Since I had a rigorous high school schedule due to various extracurricular activities, advanced course load, and afterschool work/internship, I know how to approach students with similar backgrounds who might be struggling academically. Moreover, I am a Native Japanese speaker, so I will be able to assist Japanese students who might have difficulty in English.
In the past, I voluntarily tutored for nearly three years at my middle school and high school to support students who suffered in class and wanted to raise their grades. I am comfortable tutoring both in group settings and one-on-one environments since that was my case throughout my tutoring experience. I mainly tutored in Math during my tutoring career since it was highly demanded in every setting. I have tutored various math classes, including Pre-algebra, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and AP Calculus AB/BC, in which I have only received a letter grade of "A" in every class and a score of 5 on the AP Calculus exam. In high school, I became the President of the Test Prep Club, where we focused on improving students' test scores in standardizing tests like the SAT and ACT. We mainly utilized the trial-and-error method to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the students when tackling the problems. Through active communication and collaborative work, we received satisfactory feedback from the students." less...
