"I graduated from the University of Chicago magna cum laude. I am an expert test taker, and I know how to maximize test scores in addition to understanding. I got an 800 on SAT Math in 7th grade, and in high school, I received a 1590 on the SAT. In high school, I was also the valedictorian and a national AP scholar. Based on my work in high school, I earned a merit scholarship to the University of Chicago, where I continued to succeed academically.
I have experience teaching middle school students, high school students, and college students. I volunteered as a TA for Emory Math Circle, a free program for middle school students who love math to come together to explore math subjects that would not be taught at school. In high school, I was a peer tutor for Calculus AB. In high school, until Covid, I also worked at Sunshine Stem Academy, where I developed lesson plans and taught groups of 3-6 middle school or high school students topics in math, physics, or SAT. In college, I worked as a Junior Tutor for calculus courses, during which I helped a group of 8 students at my college work through different calculus topics by guiding them through instructive exercises. My favorite teaching, though, has been teaching my two younger sisters. I have helped them prepare for tests or learn concepts from a wide variety of school subjects across a wide variety of ages. I have also witnessed both their interest in school and their confidence in their academic abilities skyrocket.
I bring energy and an infectious passion for learning. I have a passion for math, and I am prepared to teach SAT Reading and Writing or any mathematical subject up to and including Calculus. I went to an excellent high school, where the teachers placed an emphasis on learning to the level of being able to teach a concept oneself. I thoughtfully consider the best ways to explain a topic and what the trickiest aspects of a topic are likely to be. My lessons are designed to make learning as enjoyable as I know it can be and it has been for me." less...
