"I am a faculty member in the Department of Physics at the University of Chicago. I have previously taught at Northwestern University, Yale University, and Vassar College. I have a Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics from the University of Chicago, an Ed.M. in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard University, and an S.M. and A.B. in Physics and Astronomy from Dartmouth College.

I am completely devoted to excellence teaching and learning. I have been a university professor for the last twelve years, teaching physics and astronomy courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including traditional introductory sequences, intermediate classical mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical mechanics, and astrophysics, and advanced seminars in particle physics and cosmology. Over the years, I have also taught students outside the university setting, including middle and high school students in underresourced schools, elementary and middle school teachers, US veterans, adult learners, and incarcerated folks at correctional facilities.

My teaching is informed by a holistic understanding of teaching and learning that includes models of cognitive and socioemotional development of adolescents and young adults; cognitive science research on constructivism, conceptual change, and metacognition; and physics education research on best practices to support the development of expert-like conceptual and procedural knowledge. I am also motivated by a strong belief in the inherent value of diversity and the uniqueness of each individual, and I strive to create a learning environment that is welcoming and inclusive to all educational backgrounds, cognitive styles and abilities, cultural views, personal experiences, and motivations. I also draw from my training in meditation, yoga, and social work to support the overall wellbeing of my students.

I look forward to helping you grow as a scientific thinker and develop the conceptual knowledge, quantitative skills, and mindset to succeed in physics!" less...
