"Hi, my name is Nic. I tutor all core subjects (elementary through high school), and I appreciate helping a student hone in their writing skills just as much as their algebra skills.

Growing up, I got straight As and graduated as the valedictorian of my high school class. After earning my B.S. in Computer Science from UCLA, I worked as a software engineer for three and a half years. Due to my engineering background, I have an especially robust understanding of math (through Multi-Variable Calculus), and computer science- including programming languages like C++, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ReactJS.

Throughout my experience in school and beyond, I realized that my favorite jobs (or parts of my jobs) were the ones where I was teaching. Whether it was helping my friends with their homework, or getting an intern up to speed at my tech job, I have always enjoyed and excelled at helping others understand something new. Now, with tutoring as my primary source of income, it is a privilege to focus on something so personally fulfilling.

To me, teaching is equally as emotional as it is intellectual. I believe that the things which hold most students back are often negative feelings like shame, insecurity or fear. It is important to me to encourage confidence in my students, and to emphasize the power of embracing and learning from the inevitable mistake rather than being discouraged by it.

I believe that my patience, sensitivity, and ability to communicate clearly make me a great tutor. I thrive in one-on-one situations, and have been told I have a calming presence. I am able to explain things in many different ways, and always get to the root of why a student might not understand something. I never give away an answer; I ask my students to clarify where the confusion is, real time, so we can come up with an answer together.

If you are looking for an all-around tutor for your kid, or for someone to finally help you pick up coding (or anything in between) please do not hesitate to reach out. Thanks!" less...
