"During my undergraduate studies at UC Santa Barbara, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology, I developed both a strong academic foundation in the sciences and a passion for helping others succeed in their coursework. While pursuing my degree, I worked as a tutor in the Learning Center at my school, as well as at the community college I attended prior to transferring. In these roles, I supported students in a wide range of subjects, including calculus, statistics, biochemistry, and biology. The students I worked with came from diverse backgrounds and ranged in age from 18 to 32, which gave me valuable experience in adapting my explanations and strategies to meet the individual needs of learners at different academic and life stages.

Most of my tutoring experience was one-on-one, either in the Learning Center or in students’ homes, which allowed me to tailor each session to the specific goals and challenges of the student. I focused on breaking down complex topics into approachable steps, encouraging active problem-solving, and fostering a deeper understanding rather than simple memorization. This personalized approach helped students gain confidence in their abilities and build stronger study habits over time.
