"I am an experienced literature professor, but I also have a background as a writing instructor during my years at Boston University. I am an excellent writing coach and enjoy sharing my tips and ideas with my students in the classroom. Many students often remark at how my brief writing tutorials help them strengthen their writing. I am bilingual, Spanish and English, although English dominant.

A bit about me. I grew up In South Texas, attended UNT as an undergraduate from 1977 to 1981, then spent a few years as a newspaper reporter in various Texas cities. I enrolled in Harvard University's graduate program in 1992 and received my doctoral degree in 2000. I taught at Boston University and the University of Notre Dame before making my way back to Texas!

I have a PhD from Harvard, to start, but I also have been a writer in some way all my adult life. I started out reporting for a newspaper in Waco, Texas, then moved around a bit before getting back into graduate school. I've written all kinds of news articles, both as a newspaper reporter and as a freelancer, and of course as an academic I am required to write and publish scholarly essays.

I'm easy to get along with and am eager to help students with their writing and reading skills, which I believe are actually fundamental to success in most future careers.
