"Hi! My name is Ashley C. and I am a new graduate from the University of Southern California (USC), where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.8 GPA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Design & Game Development and minor in Writing for Screen & Television. I was accepted early into USC's undergraduate English program with a half-tuition, Presidential Scholarship, an honor only granted to 0.2% of USC applicants. I was also accepted early into UC Berkeley and offered admission from UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and more.
I have over 3 years of experience teaching and tutoring groups and individual students anywhere from 5th-12th grade in reading comprehension, story structure, grammar, SAT English/Writing, and screenwriting, teaching SAT test prep for several years at Prestige Academy in Ventura County and instructing children on the basics of screenwriting through an LA-based nonprofit (Young Storytellers).
I have worked with Walt Disney Imagineering to create exciting, interactive methods of storytelling for audiences of all ages, writing alongside industry professionals. I have also written original content for a variety of published, student-made games at USC's game development program, which is currently the #1 in the country.
Most importantly, I have a passion for helping students develop their writing and comprehension skills by meeting them where they're at. I understand how important it is to develop mutual respect between tutor and student and to ensure that the student doesn't feel judged for seeking assistance. I also understand the value of practice when it comes to test prep and am determined to help explain challenging concepts in a calm, patient, and kind demeanor.
Please reach out with more information on what subjects you would like assistance with and I'd be more than happy to get in touch!" less...
