"Hi, I'm Ali. I hold a BS in Physics and an MFA in Writing, and for fifteen years I've taught writing and humanities at numerous colleges and universities while helping 1000+ students master the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, SAT, and ACT.
For the past three years, I've taught full-time at USC's International Academy (Dornsife School), where I teach writing, critical thinking, and GRE/GMAT preparation. Before that, I worked with major test prep companies and taught thousands in university classrooms. My real expertise comes from one-on-one and small-group sessions where I tailor every strategy to how you think.
Most of my tutoring—80%—has been with college students and graduate applicants who get frustrated when diagnostic scores plateau despite high GPAs. The other 20% are high school students building foundational skills. Both groups need someone who understands how tests are built, not just how to take them.
I teach mastery through four steps: diagnose where accuracy drops, build concepts to address reasoning gaps, practice strategically to reverse-engineer test questions, and refine timing to perform under pressure. My students have seen LSAT scores jump from the 150s into the 170s, GRE verbal gains of 15–25 points, and GMAT quant rising multiple percentiles. But I'm most proud of the confidence shift—students walk into test day composed and ready to excel.
I'm expanding on Wyzant to work with more diverse learners: high schoolers tackling first standardized tests, professionals returning after years away, international students, and anyone strengthening foundational math or physics before test prep.
I offer a free 15-minute online consultation. Sessions are flexible. I respond within hours, and I ask for 12-hour cancellation notice. Whether you're aiming for 170s on the LSAT, conquering GRE quant, or understanding why GMAT frustrates you despite knowing calculus—I can help. I'm here to help you not just score higher, but think better." less...
