"I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Benaroya Research Institute, where I study immunology using bioinformatics. I earned my PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, where I used computational modeling to study protein synthesis in cells. I hold a dual bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Molecular & Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University, where I also completed a secondary education program and student-taught middle and high school science classes. In the future, I plan to become a middle/high school or college science teacher.
My passion for math and science began in middle school and grew through my time at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), a STEM-focused boarding school. There, I took advanced courses such as multivariable calculus, molecular biology, stem cell biology, and advanced chemistry, and began tutoring my peers, something I’ve continued ever since!
At Vanderbilt, I took courses in organic/inorganic chemistry, molecular genetics, and cell biology, maintaining a 3.63 GPA. I tutored student athletes at the Stratton Foster Academic Support Center and have since accumulated over 750 hours of tutoring experience through Vanderbilt, WyzAnt, and private clients. I’ve worked with students from elementary school through graduate school in subjects including SAT/ACT math and science, biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, calculus, and more. My standardized test scores include AP Biology (5), AP BC Calculus (5), ACT Math/Science (35), and SAT Math (800).
As someone who has struggled with academic anxiety and fear of asking questions, I prioritize creating a patient, supportive environment where students feel comfortable and empowered to learn. I’m flexible, empathetic, and deeply committed to helping students build confidence and succeed!" less...
