"Hello, everybody! My name is Jackson, and I am aspiring to become a full time tutor! I graduated from High School with a 3.9 GPA, 32 ACT (97th percentile), and a 1340 PSAT (98th percentile). After this, I graduated from UW-Madison with a 3.8 GPA, double majoring in Biology (with honors) and Global Health, an environmental science certificate, 2 research positions, and a publication.

My area of focus is very broad, covering Math, Physics, and Chemistry to an introductory college level, ELA to a high school level, ESL, Test Preparation, and Beginners Portuguese. My tutoring will focus on teaching not only the subjects at hand, but also studying strategies that allows the students to effectively use their time in a way that facilitates success. I promote a dual focus approach: teaching, then applying. The lesson will start by introducing and explaining the topic, but the majority of my lesson will focus on applying concepts, as this is where independent learning is able to take place. My goal is for the students to leave the tutoring session feeling like it was easy all along, with the ability to practice and master the concepts that were taught to them.

As for my tutoring experience, it has mostly been centered around an ESL environment, teaching people of all ages and abilities. I started tutoring in January of 2022 to college students, and eventually transitioned into teaching people of all ages who want to understand English better in a more casual setting. However, over the summer of 2025, I worked at a daycare that allowed me to understand not only how to work with kids, but how to teach them, and how to set them up for success. After this, I have independently tutored in my hometown to 4 different boys, each in different age groups, studying different subjects.
