My name is Anabel, and I'm an honors student at UC Berkeley with a 4.0 GPA, majoring in Molecular & Cell Biology and minoring in Music. This continues a record of achievement from high school, where I was an AP Scholar with Honor and a Dean's List student. My tutoring philosophy is shaped by my own academic journey; while I'm proud of my achievements, I know firsthand what it's like to struggle. After barely passing my first two midterms at Berkeley, I developed new strategies to overcome my difficulties with test-taking and ended my first year with honors. My experiences have made me a uniquely empathetic and effective tutor, and I'm extremely passionate about guiding students through their own academic hurdles.

I have a versatile range of teaching and mentoring experiences. As a volunteer for the non-profit Learn To Be, I've created personalized lesson plans for K-12 students in Math, Science, and English. My work as a research assistant at Stanford Medicine allows me to bring real-world context to complex Biology and Chemistry topics. In the arts, my role as Student Conductor for a 60+ person choir was a masterclass in teaching, guiding students of all skill levels through complex music. This, combined with my work as a bilingual (English/Russian) interpreter, has given me a unique toolkit for teaching communication and the arts.

My goal is to break down intimidating problems into manageable steps and to make learning a joyful process. I'm determined to empower students with the confidence and life-long skills to take on any challenge.
