"Hello! My name is Tyler, and I am excited about the opportunity to help you better understand the content you are learning. I graduated from Winthrop University with a degree both in math and in English. I earned a Master's in Teaching Secondary Math from Winthrop, too. I have been a teacher for ten years, and I have worked with students ranging from middle school to college. I tutored in the Math Lab in college, and I have held before/after school tutoring sessions every year I have taught. Additionally, I have tutored students outside of school and online.

I try to keep my teaching/tutoring approach as student-centered and as basic as possible. I believe that knowing the definitions of content vocabulary will greatly help the student in applying the specific concepts. I also write out all of the steps so we can explicitly determine where the student is having issues. Lastly, I believe in forming a good rapport with students in order to create the best possible learning environment. A lot of problems I have seen stem from a lack of confidence, so I will weave opportunities for success throughout the lesson. I have taught/tutored the following classes: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, and English writing and grammar. I have also taught Calculus CP and English 4.

My specialties are in Algebra and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. I have taught both classes at least 10 times. I have also designed both courses. These classes are very challenging, but I pride myself on being able to break the information down into manageable pieces.
